THE PROJECT

Introducing tradition and innovation, elegance and creativity. “Oro d’Autore” was launched in 1987 by “Arezzo Fiere e Congressi”, with the purpose of creating a Contemporary Goldsmith’s Art Collection able to enhance and promote the “Made in Italy” jewellery. Indeed, the project links the creativity of some of the most important national and international artists to the mastery of the largest Italian jewellery companies, creating a unique and inimitable jewellery of its kind. Many companies from Arezzo, but also Florence, Vicenza and Valenza, have worked together
to favour the great and steady growth of the collection “Oro d’Autore”. As a matter of fact, the collection was originally made up of fourteen pieces, while today it consists of over three hundred pieces that cannot be reproduced or sold.
“Oro d’Autore” boasts the collaboration of some of the most important international artists including Italian architects Gae Aulenti, Badii, Baj, Barni, Branzi, Cappello, Carrino, Cascella, Castles, Ceroli, Cibic, Dadamaino, Dalisi, De Lucchi, Dorazio, River, Fo, Griggs, La Pietra, Mendini, Munari, Pistoletto, and Arnaldo Pomodoro, Sottsass, Veronesi, and foreign artists as Cheng, Field Baenza, Del Monte, Hodges, Freeman Lau, Van Lau, Minujin, Ogata, Shirai, Takayanagi, Head. Their creations have enriched the collection, which has often been showed
during international exhibitions, such as the International Jewellery Exhibition in Tokyo in 1994, the Hong Kong September Fair and the "JCK Show" in Las Vegas. In addition, “Oro d’Autore” has been exhibited in some of the most important museums of the world, such as the “Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes” in Buenos Aires, at the “Pinacoteca Internazionale” in San Paolo Brasil, at the "Instituto Cultural de Providencia" in Santiago de Chile, the “National Museum of Contemporary Art” in Beijing and other major international locations.
In the last years, “Oro d’Autore” has undertaken different creative paths and thanks to the collaboration with the magazines “Vogue Gioiello” and “Vogue Accessory”, there were created many beautiful jewels that combine the style and the creativity of national and international designers with the Italian jewellery tradition. In 2003 Fashion houses like Armani, Ferré, Fendi, Prada, Gucci, Ferragamo, Dolce and Gabbana, Vivienne Westwood, and many others joined together for the initiative "It Jewels": a show where the designers created their unique pieces.
In 2010 it was conceived “Gold Up ", an exhibition of clothes and accessories created by the most renowned Italian designers, combined with the jewels of “Oro d’Autore”. In 2011 it was born "Golden Hat-titude," the jewellery collection designed by the maison "Borsalino" to match with their legendary hats Italian. As for 2012, Arezzo Fiere e Congressi is working on "Past For Award", a new collection of bags and shoes adorned with exclusive jewellery, designed by the fashion house "Borbonese" and created by some gold companies from Arezzo.
In 2012, on the occasion of “Oro d’Autore” twenty-fifth anniversary, Arezzo Fiere e Congressi has decided to fit out a permanent exhibition of the collection inside of its new buildings. It will be completed with the original artists’ drawings and, for the first time, it will be divided and classified according to five categories: painters, sculptors, architects, designers and fashion designers.
